Corpus Christi Sunrise Rotary Club

In 1984, Harold Shockley Sr., president of the Corpus Christi Rotary Club from 1984-1985, and Leroy Forester, his vice president,  answered the need for a rotary club in the Corpus by helping to create the Sunrise Rotary Club of Corpus Christi.  The first meeting was held September 10th, 1984, with about 75 attendees.  Ron Whitlock was the first president.

The club was officially chartered on September 24th, 1985, with 65 members...the largest newly chartered club in Rotary history. 

Since it was chartered, the Sunrise Club has been involved in many community and international projects, including:

• Texas State Aquarium Fundraising
• Ring bells for the Salvation Army
• Tree Planning project
• Polio Plus and Polio Plus Partners
• Sponsoring a foster child in Guatemala
• Casa Maty, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mx.

Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

            5.  Is it fun? Will I get caught?
